TMMC Announces 2024 Annual Classical Scholarship Competitors and Program

Thursday Morning Music Club’s Annual Scholarship Competition will take place on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 10:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, 125 S Third St., Wilmington, NC.  Contestants are talented high school juniors and seniors who live and attend school in the Wilmington area. We are also delighted to have piano accompaniment by Elizabeth Loparits on two pieces.

Contestants and the musical selections they will perform are as follows:

1. Logan Kai Tamadon piano
   Chopin’s op. 25, no. 12 & Poulenc’s Improvisation #7

2. Nadya Kotlarevska violin
   Bach’s E Major Concerto (Allegro) Accompanist: Elizabeth Loparits piano

3. Emily Bullard harp
   Marcel Grandjany’s Aria in Classic Style op. 19 Accompanist: Elizabeth Loparits piano

4. Scott McFarland piano
   Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Deep River & Chopin’s Fantasie Impromptu in C#minor

5. Laura Austria cello
   Two of Bach’s unaccompanied Cello Suites

6. Cassidy Thompson piano
   Debussy’s Claire de Lune & Ignacio Cervantes’ La Celosa (from 3 Dances)

After the last contestant has performed, the judges will confer and announce the winner.
