Thursday Morning Music Club Classical Music Scholarship Contest - Miriam Warshauer Memorial Scholarship

COMPETITION DATE: Feb. 5, 2022, Saturday morning 10:00
Facility will be open and available to contestants and the public at 9:30
WHERE: First Presbyterian Church, 125 S. 3rd St. Wilmington, NC, upstairs in Choral Rehearsal Hall
Please come to the Library at the top of the stairs after entering the Orange Street side door directly off the slated terrace space to sign in.
WHEN WILL I PERFORM?
An email will be sent to you one week prior informing you of contestant order. You (or your accompanist) may request being at the beginning or end of the contest to help facilitate schedules but granting of requests is not guaranteed.
Note:
Please arrive earlier than your designated time.
If you are not present for your designated time, you will be skipped.
If you are not present when all present have performed, the contest will close, you will miss your opportunity to perform, and the judges will begin their private conversation time. No exceptions.
WHAT WILL I PERFORM?
Any classical composition.
MEMORIZATION is MANDATORY.
TIME LIMIT
If your piece is longer than 10 minutes, it is to the judges' discretion whether or not you will be stopped. Stopping your performance for overtime will not affect your score adversely. You may perform 1 or more pieces during that time slot to showcase your abilities.
PRIZES:
The Audition Committee shall be composed of judges conversant in instrument and vocal performance.
The Judges' decision is FINAL.
A top scholarship prize of $1000 (to be used for music study) as well as honorary mention prizes can be awarded if the judges decide they have heard students who meet the judges' standard requirements of classical musicianship.
Prizes are not guaranteed to be awarded each year (although this has never happened!)
WHEN WILL PRIZES BE AWARDED?
PRIZES will be AWARDED at noon at the May 12, 2022, Spring Luncheon held at the Cape Fear Country Club in Wilmington NC.
You must be able to perform on this date to be eligible to receive the prize.
Scholarship winners & their accompanist will perform their contest piece(s) for the club and shall also be guests of the Club for lunch.
Scholarship winners may invite two non-paying guests to the luncheon, a total of 4 including you and your accompanist.
