TMMC Mourns Death of Gaile Zack - Past TMMC President and Co-founder of Wilmington Symphony Orchestra

Gaile Reynolds Zack, age 88, passed away on December 3, 2024. She joins her husband of 65 years, Dr. Peter Zack, who passed in March 2023.  Gaile served as President of the Thursday Morning Music Club from 2014 - 2016 and assisted with several other responsibilities including budget and production of the annual Yearbook.

After moving to Wilmington in 1969, Gaile, along with her friend Virginia Kusler, labored for months to establish the interest and support needed to build a successful orchestra. The UNCW-Community Orchestra was established with the first rehearsal in November 1971. This grew into what is now known as the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra.

The memorial service was held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at St. James Episcopal Parish at 2:00 pm with the burial of her ashes in the St. Francis Garden at St. James after the service.
